THAT is a story that sounds very familiar.  Very much like what this
system is doing.  The issues happen when Nvidia writes to the system so
that tells me that their programming is conficting in some way with the
system in how it interacts with the hardware.  I'm no brain surgeon
(only a lowly rocket scientist) but I do know that Nvidia is messing
with the system in some way.  

As for my desktop/20" lcd...all of the effects are wasted on it.  I'm
getting to the point I'm ready to recycle this system into a server and
build a new desktop for myself.  (Still rolling my own!)
