[ale] rsync question

Gentoo's Portage package management system works over rsync; emerge 
--sync performs an rsync with a public mirror.  I have my own repository 
(101GiB) here and the server that holds it runs the rsync daemon for me 
and runs the client against the GT public mirror twice a day.
