Don't know whether this will help, but anyway.....
The current issue of Consumer's Reports has an evaluation of digital cameras, 
wide range of prices and styles.  The issue is not immediately available to 
me.  It's upstairs and I'm downstairs.  I can send you 
their "reccomendations" if you wish.  The article is too long for a quote, 
but may be available at  your local public library.
