Ugly truth:
Georgia is now the only state in the union that is intending
to continue using zero evidence DRE voting systems that
produce no voter verified paper records or auditable paper
ballots in its future elections.  (Does a lot for our stereotyped
image of being a  bunch of stupid, backwoods, inbred
hicks here in the deep South, don't you think?)

There are a couple of simple civil actions you can take to
help restore legitimate election systems to our state.  The
first is to register your support for the federal legistation that
will help do this at:

Another action is to provide public comment at the State
Election board meeting ON TUESDAY, JUNE 2, at 10am
(meeting details in forward below).  Myself and at least one other
ALE member will be doing this tomorrow. The ideal is to deliver
your 2 minute public statement in person, but if you can't be
present to provide your own thoughts, I invite you to write them
out and email them to me off list by 11:30pm tonight.  The best
would be scanned documents with your signature, but anything
is better than nothing, and please include a synopsis of your
professional background in your statement.  I will print out
any documents I receive and deliver them to the Election
Board officials.  Comments to not need to be technically
specific, in fact the more general your comments the better.

The other easy immediate action you can take is to support
the the VoterGA law suit challenging the constitutionality
of the Diebold Zero-Evidence election systems used
in this state.  Donations can be made through their
web site at < http://VoterGA.org >

The suit is now going to the State Supreme Court and the
final brief for this is being filed today (June 1, 2009).
Attendance at the press conference tomorrow, June 2nd,
at 11am could also be a helpful show of support.
(Perhaps you can attend that as a follow up to delivering
your public comments at the Election Board Meeting! ;^)
