I left "the North" in the early 80s.  It was 20 degrees on 10/31 the day we left.  We arrived in Houston on 11/1 or 11/2 and it was 70 degrees.  Having spent 10 years in "the North" I never want to go back.

Of course the warm thoughts of a possible PB Pajama Party invite might make it ok...

Haven't been to Chicago... but having lived up north, I can imagine it would 
be.  I *love* the winter for its æsthetics... not so much for the driving.
