[ale] GPS units

I've tried running the software through Wine in Linux several times over
the past few years, but have never had any luck.  I'm not sure that it's
related to not being able to run under wine, but the Garmin software
contains DRM and locks the maps to your unit when they're uploaded.  The
registration is maintained on Garmin's site.

If you don't want to pay for the updates or want to skip Windows, you
may want to take a look at OpenStreetMap.org.  They have a procedure for
downloading maps from their site and converting them for use on a
Garmin.  I've never tried it, but it's reported to work well.
