Seen close to that. For any heavy use, bare metal wins.

At some point the software version of "physics" apply.
Using your 5:1 ratio, with 5 major applications needed
is a pseudo math format:

Hardware(*1) + OS(*1) + Applications(*5) is more efficient than:

Hardware(*1) + Virt(*5) + OS(*5) + Applications(*5)
