Hi all,

I have been taking the time off to clean my mad scientist lab, otherwise known as a basement. I have been looking for some time for a recycler that takes cassette tapes and other types of magnetic media but I was never able to find one in Atlanta. I did find one in Washington and another in Massachusetts but it was too expensive given the charge for recycling and the shipping costs.

Earlier this week while doing yet again another search I found:

This Earth911 lets you do a search based on your zip code and what you want to recycle which lead me to CompuPoint USA in Norcross:

CompuPoint takes residential and commercial e-waste so I dropped off all my media (many cases) this morning at no charge. All I had to do was call and arrange a time.

CompuPoint recently moved down the street to their new location at:

6420 Warren Drive
Norcross, GA. 30093
Phone 770-840-8220

I know that some recyclers send e-waste overseas to be recycled in countries with no recycling laws:

I did some searches for CompuPoint and didn't find any smoking guns. They are also the host of the Keep Gwinnett Beautiful Electronics Recycling Day:

They even take UPS batteries. Here is a list of the kinds for e-waste they recycle:

Does anyone one on the list know anything about them? It would be really nice to have a good e-waste recycler in the local area that I can drop stuff off with whenever I want.
