well, I saw the error, and the system had locked up on 9/4 and wasn't
operational again until 9/9. Why they didn't figure out it wasn't
working for 5 days is beyond me....
another case of a Windowz shop, admins, knowing nothing about Linux, yet
having a RedHat server in their racks. I asked if they had putty.exe
around, blank stare....

anyway, the system was up and running and functional, yet the console
did have those errors streaming.. ide_scsi...
. It is an HP server, with an internal DVD burner. Their plan is to
replace the internal DVD with a USB DVD burner, once they figure out a
drive that will be compatible with their hardware setup. The original
DVD drive was installed on site after the HP server was shipped.
Their biggest log hog was an smtp error, the system would give an error
that it couldn't connect to the smtp server at...xxx.xxx.xxx , yet
complete sending email 2 seconds later. Log shows no RDNS entry.. once
they fixed THAT, the error went away.
I talked with them a bit about linux, ubuntu, Fedora, Debian.. and
mentioned ( WRITE THIS DOWN :) ALE.org.. He was actually running
nimbleX ( http://nimblex.net/ ) in a VM, so maybe there is hope!

thanks for all the suggestions and help!!
