> Thanks for your reply, let you know if that works. When I boot up it goes to text mode and then at login when x is supposed to start it just keeps on flashing finally switching to tty1, leaving tty7 inop.

Keeps on switching back to nvidia after reboot. I had gotten it to work then it did a massive update rebooted back to original problem, even after manually editing xorg.conf
