This is, in a nutshell, the biggest issue with Vista for me, at least
for running it as a desktop. If you're going to build a serious gaming
rig, chances are you aleady greatly surpass Vista's requirements, so
any griping about resource requirements fall flat. 

That's the material gripe. The ethereal gripe is that it's simply a
matter of trust. I have never been an early adopter of Microsoft OS's.
I didnt touch Windows95 until OSR2, I didn't touch 98 until Second
Edition. I skipped ME entirely and didn't touch 2000 until sp2, and the
same for XP. So part of it is just my cyclical distrust of Microsoft
and unwillingness to be their beta tester. 

Vista inspires something more though. I think it's something along the
lines of I don't like the direction their moving in with the OS. It
just feels like they're trying to go more Mac OSXish, but doing it in a
very clumsy manner.
