Greetings,

 Cox Radio Interactive looking for a new Sr. SA.  It's a great position.  I should know; it was mine for over 6 years.

Sr. System Administrator 

Cox Radio Interactive has an opening for a Sr. System Administrator with proven 
ability to build, deploy, and maintain a complex mission critical computing 
environment.   The current environment is primarily Debian/Linux, Apache, 
MySQL, Perl, Java and a small number of Windows servers; the office 
environment includes a mix of Windows, OSX and Linux.   

A successful candidate will clearly demonstrate the following past experience and/or education: 

o Thorough understanding of operating systems and IP networking.  Specific 
experience with Linux or some flavor of Unix is required. 
o More than 5 years of previous system administration experience; background 
with running mission critical high-availability services desired. 
o Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes. 
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing proposals 
or papers, serving as team lead and making presentations to professional 
peers. 
o A solid understanding of network computing concepts, client/server 
architecture and network file systems.   Specific experience with Cisco 
switches, F5 Networks load balancers and Network Appliance filers a plus. 
o MySQL database administration experience.   Additional experience with high 
performance installations is desirable. 
o Extensive experience with Apache HTTP server. 
o Knowledge of scaling system and network infrastructure in proportion to 
customer expectations. 
o Capable of anticipating future hardware and software requirements; ability to 
architect solutions as well as spec and deploy hardware to implement 
solutions. 
o Ability to program in an administrative language (Tk, Perl, Python, shell) and 
experience with a source control or versioning system. 
o Firm grasp of network and web application security. 

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will become a member of a team charged with 
delivering and maintaining the computing and networking infrastructure for Cox 
Radio's Web and new media initiatives for radio stations including a network of 
template-based radio station websites, CXRis proprietary content management 
system, Cox Radios online customer service portal, and other new media 
applications.   

The candidate should be a utility player willing to assist with all areas of IT at 
CXRi  development, system administration, desktop computer support, and 
maintenance of existing applications. 

Performs a variety of other tasks and duties as assigned (or better yet, as you 
identify the need). 

Requirements 

o Candidates should hold a college degree in Computer Science or a related 
field or demonstrate equivalent work experience.  
o This position requires articulate, courteous, and reliable communication. 
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a can do attitude are essential.   
o The candidate must demonstrate skills advanced enough to require minimal 
supervision as well as the ability to communicate clearly goals and 
objectives to other team members and the ability to document system 
designs and processes. 
o A resume, salary history and one page cover letter stating why you believe 
you are the perfect fit for our job will constitute a submission.  Those under
