[ale] VPN Wierdness?

I have a really weird OpenVPN issue going on. Remote Host A is connecting
to local Host B. If I ping with large packets sizes (>1500) from A to the
external, publicly visible interface of B going across the open Internet,
all is fine, packets fly.

If I do the same to an internal interface on Host B using the VPN I lose
about the first 10-15 packets then it picks up. If I restart the ping
again immediately I get 0 packet loss. If I ping by IP versus hostname,
no change and there are entries in /etc/hosts so it doesn't seem to be
anything DNS/resolution related.

I've dropped the MTU on Host A to 1400, no change.

Any thoughts?

Robert
