Evolution stores email in mbox format. Additionally there are some index
files for each mbox.  If you move just the mbox files to
the .evolution/mail/local directory you should be able to start
Evolution and it will re-build all the indexes.  I haven't done this
with 2.8.3 yet, but I did do it with 2.8.1 on Ubuntu Edgy.
