[ale] Linux/PPC on i386 box : virtual or otherwise

ah, two things I need to learn for a new project

   - build custom boot images to use ramdisks as the file system --
   yaboot --> PPC
   - package home-made applications with/around the "portage" system -->
   i386 will do.
