i agree, but his argument was more to the effect of "proprietary
software is more secure than open-source software". basically, because
if someone could read the code it less secure and much easier to
circumvent.  not the quality of the code itself, just the fact that it
was open-source.

i wasn't overly clear earlier, but this was his position.
