[ale] WAY OFF TOPIC -- ANNOUNCEMENT (political)

Two sentences count as a rant?

I didn't say "all" Republicans - I didn't even say "all" independents or
"all" democrats.

Every American has his own ideal of the way the world should be run.
Party affiliations often don't really describe all there is to a person.
For example there are "pro-choice" Republicans and "pro-life" Democrats.

You're right however that a political thread won't get anywhere.
Posting against it though is just going to encourage responses. There
was a long and bitter thread here once about how this list should be
split to keep out the off topic stuff. If you don't like the OT stuff
then you should delete it without reading (or even setup a rule to do so
in your mailbox so it won't clutter it up in the first place.

Not this Republican. (this is the part where I deleted my retort)

But I can tell you what this Republican does want:
Please don't use your anecdotal evidence of the list's political
leanings as a justification for not only off-topic remarks, but grossly
inappropriate (and/or uninformed) ones. If I wanted politics in my
inbox, I'd subscribe to any one of the thousands of lists that would
provide it. But I don't want that. I want Linux in my inbox -- cute,
cuddly, wholesome, raw, ass-kicking, and sexy Linux.

So next time anyone wants to rant politics. . . please exercise
restraint (see deleted retort above). It's very likely that half the
country and half the list disagrees with you and you're not going to
persuade anyone, but rather just going to piss someone off with your
inappropriately placed commentary.

Thanks!

Not to mention some of us Independents as well as most Democrats. Heck
even some Republicans wanted this guy out.

Don't want to start a thread here, but I know that there are some
libertarians (and others) on this list who will be glad to know that
Atty. Gen. Gonzales has resigned. Press conference is set for 10:30 am
today at the Justice Department.
