That is the plan. In fact, there is a Linux-friendly Samsung color laser
printer that I'm eyeballing. 85% of my printing needs are B/W so a a
cheap printer is just fine. They real use of the HP POS is the scan to
PDF and email it. That is quite nice. But that product line has been
dropped (to buggy to continue support on) and even the HP sponsored
HPLIP project doesn't expect to ever have full support for the 9100
series. The last firmware fix was 2004.
