[ale] Network issue at hotel

one time I had is not MTU, but of SACK sequence number gets messed up (many
thanks to tcpdump/ethereal). Even one packet loss will cause a transmission
to a halt, with both sides being CentOS 4/i386. The quick solution for me
was to disable the SACK on the client.
