[ale] uptime, cool--New topic, keeping power on

I used to like to power them on and off daily for this reason too.  I  
felt like I could tell by the way it came up, if things were wearing  
out.  Of course if it didn't come up I could spend my day fixing it  
instead of doing paperwork.
