I have a bunch of accounts setup to use bellsouth as SMTP server, just 
setup username+login for each account.

I found this to be true on a few of my latest trips, when I was on a 
site that WASN'T Bellsouth, I could NOT send mail, but I could receive 
it.

I use kmail & thunderbird. Thunderbird on my windows box( laptop) that 
travels with me.
