I'm using Yahoo Mail without any problems.  Y! Authentication too. 
There is a TON of spam flowing around the world today/tonight, so 
perhaps a few of Yahoo systems are impacted.  Try temporarily using
a different IP address in your hosts file, rather then having your 
client use the first one it finds.
