this happened to a friend of mine YEARS ago. there should be a 
connection inside the computer, that goes from the CD-ROM to the sound 
card. You are probably missing that little cable. The CD sound 
"normally" should be connected to the sound card, where your speakers 
are plugged in, it makes sense.
