What IP address are you getting and what is your gateway address?

ifconfig eth0 or ppp0
netstat -rn

The nameserver IPs below are quite unusual as they are private IP
addresses.

Try these instead:

   nameserver 4.2.2.4
   nameserver 4.2.2.3
