I used to go to thrift stores and buy used keyboards to avoid multimedia 
keys. Eventually I bought a Logitech Coldless Desktop LX 500 and have 
been very happy. It has good range, long battery life, and both USB and 
PS2 connectors. Worked out of the box in Ubuntu.
