The point was that the ONLY thing that you can edit is the kernel
command line.  You can't alter any of the other parameters of the boot
process for the operating system.

Since that's obviously something you can't think of using, then why not
just say, "I can't think of why I'd use that," instead of going
"Ummm..." and stating that your way is superior?  It may work for you,
but there are many more tricks that you can have in the bag when you can
change more then just the kernel commandline.
