Why don't you just get huge hulkin' Lian Li case, cheap bargain bin priced
mobo (w/ onboard nic and maybe video)/processor/ram/cdrom and start adding
hard drives to it ?  Use a nice GUI (webmin / YAST) to easily add users and
do other chores and that's it - of to the races.  I think w/ the cheapest
case you are looking at something around $200.00.  More if you get a big
nice case.  The benefit is you can add a lot of HD's as you need them.  If
you want real hw raid cheaply use a 3Com Escalade card or you can use
software raid for free.

Or you can just get a USB HD, share it, and there you go.

If you already have a hard drive, CompUSA has a couple of NAS boxes for
about $120. With a hard drive included, the price goes up to at least $250.
