This makes no sense to me.  If you're voip device sits behind your dsl 
device and your dsl device handles the username/password (as mine does), 
then you don't have an issue with this.  They are speaking of pppoe, 
which is required by many dsl providers these days, but it does not get 
in the way of voip.  Sounds more like someone who has an investment in 
cable services...
