INFORMATION SECURITY MANAGER

Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or Information Security related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
Six or more years of job related experience. Computer related experience includes: Windows, UNIX, Linux, SQL, Oracle, MS Office Suite and Visio. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred. Experience within a college/university environment desired.

Duties:
Manage, coach and lead the Information Security Technical Services Team. Manage the campus-wide desktop firewall deployment using the centrally managed SiteProtector system running a MS SQL database. Develop and manage a Vulnerability Assessment Program. Program includes campus-wide password, network, database, system, modem, and service assessment with appropriate technical and executive report generation and mitigation strategy for senior management review. Develop and manage the Intrusion Detection and Prevention Program; implement appropriate intrusion detection and incident prevention tools, develop processes and procedures in collaboration with campus units to minimize potential risks to the Institute. Generate technical and executive reports to include trending analysis. Work closely with the Senior Engineer to develop an Incident Response Program, and lead information security incident groups; coordinate with campus Computer Support Representatives during investigations; generate reports and submit findings to appropriate management layers. Collect, compile, and respond to security related violations/complaints (SPAM, Abuse); generate weekly abuse reports and graph trends. Manage the information security remedy triage process. Serve as the information security technical resource for campus Computer Support Representatives; coordinate information security alerts and advisory notices; administer the information security e-mail lists and maintain a departmental operations recovery manual.
