What software are you using to sync (gnome-pilot, kpilot, etc)?  What
version of pilot-link is installed?

There have been many problems with the 2.6 kernel series and USB palms.
Many problems can apparently be fixed by using the distro's kernel
.config file with  kernel sources from kernel.org.
