I had told a couple of folks at last week's meeting that I would post
links to desktop apps that I regularly use that are written in Java.
Here are a few key ones:

ArgoUML - a UML modeling tool

jEdit - an extensible text editor

RSSOwl - an RSS aggregator
http://rssowl.sourceforge.net

Eclipse JDT - an IDE for Java
http://www.eclipse.org

~    To illustrate the cross-platform nature of Java we had discussed,
you can download any of these for PC Linux and Windows or OS X to see
how similar the applications are across these very different platforms.
