When: 8:00 PM, May 20, 2004

Where: Kennesaw State University, Clendenin Hall,
        room CL 1007

Presentation:

Join us at the May ALE-NW meeting where James Taylor of
The East Cobb Group presents a review of the GroupWise
server features and functionality, and a demonstration of
a live GroupWise for Linux system.

Many organizations are moving to Linux and the open source
computing environment to take advantage of the increased
flexibility and lower total cost of ownership they offer.

One of the major obstacles many organizations face when
planning the move to Linux has been the lack of a messaging
and collaboration environment with features equivalent to MS
Exchange.

Novell GroupWise has provided enterprise mail and
collaboration features for over ten years, and pioneered
many of the collaborative features found in MS Exchange,
and supports many functions still unavailable in Exchange.
However, because GroupWise until recently has only been
available on the Netware and Windows server platforms, it
was not considered an available alternative for a Linux
environment. With the introduction of GroupWise for Linux,
this is no longer the case.

Presenter:

James Taylor is the founder and Principal Consultant of
The East Cobb Group, Inc. He has over 20 years of
experience in information system development, instructional
design, team leadership, and systems implementation.
Previous to founding ECG, he worked with Xerox, Wang
Laboratories and Whittman-Hart. James has served as a
member of the Board of Directors of the Network
Professional Association, and is currently a member of
the Board of Directors of Novell Users International.
