forgive me if i am missing something...but you may run into other issues moving the drive to a different system...i believe that xp maintains some type of system ID, I don't know where it lives though...you may have to reauthenticate it at best...I saw this that might help http://www.mostlycreativeworkshop.com/Article11.html
