John,

F-Prot was created by Fridrik Skulason at www.f-prot.com. The F-Prot
scanning engine is used in a number of products.

F-Prot www.f-prot.com
Command Anti-Virus now Authentium http://www.authentium.com/
F-Secure http://www.datafellows.com

F-Prot from www.f-prot.com is the version we have been talking about for
Linux. They also have a Windows version.

I use the Windows version at home on a W98 box and on several other systems
I maintain. I have a commercial license which costs $50 for 10 licenses. It
works well on stand alone workstations but is not as full featured as
McAfee or Symantec when used in an enterprise environment.

I used Command Anti-Virus around 1995-1996 (before they merged with
Authentium) and had great difficulty getting it to update properly in an
enterprise environment. We are currently using McAfee at work and ePolicy
Orchestrator to manage it. They have been having some difficulty creating
policy groups in ePolicy Orchestrator. The current policy doesn't allow for
exclusions so it has been moving and deleting some of my tools. I'm glad I
have good backups.
