[ale] Linux on laptops

Slackware has operated very well on each of the 3 or 4 laptops I've
installed it on. Btw, after over a year of almost continuous operation
and 17,000 air miles my IBM Thinkpad R31 crashed last night for undetermined
reasons. It was idle at the time. Upon normal reboot there was no loss
of data or manual FSCK interaction in recovering its ext3 file systems!
