[ale] Not valid block device error

fdisk /dev/sdc1 yeilds:

[root at tazenda sunny]# /sbin/fdisk /dev/sdc1

Unable to open /dev/sdc1

fdisk /dev/sdc yeilds:

[root at tazenda sunny]# /sbin/fdisk /dev/sdc

Unable to read /dev/sdc
