Just tried this on my box (MDK 10.1 Community 2.6.8.1-10MDK) last night and 
K3B worked fine with my cheepo DVD burner, or at least well enough to burn 1 
file on a CD/RW.

I did have to boot Non-FB to get anything to work right though, which I need 
to find an explanation for.
