[ale] backing up Mac CD's

I also recently acquired a Mac G4 with a DVD-Ram drive. It currently has
OS 9.x on it. I intend to upgrade to OSX as soon as I can get backup
copies of my new OSX CD's made. My Linux boxes can't read the CD's (at
least not to open them) and a dd gives me 3 identical size files with
different md5sum data.

Is there something "special" I need to do to make backups of Apple CD's?
