I can't join the VPN yet, but I have learned a bit more.

Close. I looked at the 'vpn_install' script and saw it was looking for
'/usr/src/linux-2.4': a match for my RH-7.3 box, not 6.2. I built in that
environment and can now 'insmod' the vpn module successfully (except for a
'tainted code' whine). However, no login. I also found clients for MsWin98
and tried those: equally unsuccessful. I really think I have incorrect
login information, since even their PPP dial-in refuses my system, and
that has _nothing_ to do with VPN.

Now I'm playing telephone tag with the IT folks.
