[ale] Questions about DVD-R

Does anyone have a minute to point out the relevant info on DAO versus 
TAO in the following?  I'd like to learn what to look for.  Could 
someone post their output for dvdrecord -prcap
or
cdrecord -prcap
for comparison?  Just put your dev= after the command, not mine.  Thanks,
