[ale] Slackware and Oracle

I am embarking on a new Oracle installation and I'm looking for some
feedback. I have installed Oracle on RedHat with good success (after
reloading libs, etc).

For many reasons, I want this new one to be Slackware (my CD's came in
and I'm about to pop to use them :). I did a trial install with the
bittorrent CDs of Slackware 9.1 and Oracle 9i v.2. The gui creating
oracle databases failed to build (error message forgotten, test box out
the door). Needless to say , creating by hand is a rip-snorting PIA and
not an area I want to explore.

Has anyone had _any_ success with Oracle and Slackware or should I go
back to the "I know I can do this" RedHat?
