[ale] any ALE members familiar with embedded linux?

To cut your development time, would Open Zaurus, Opie, Qt-embedded help
you out? I have a Sharp Zaurus and the environment it has that I am
learning about is very tiny on the ARM architecture. Let's say you had
a Zaurus and used the serial port and a wireless CF card for input
output. You could go a long way on building on top of the build
environment already in place for Open Zaurus. They use BitKeeper to
hold the code right now. A few hardworked developers but they are
moving the whole environment to some unified embedded environment that
will make coding easier. I think it is called Open Embedded or
something like that. Chris Larson is the main man and has just gotten
resettled in a new location working for TI who supports his coding. So
OZ will probably speed up this winter. They need coders and app
builders right now.

Inside the Sharp ROM is a million links so the file system looks normal
on the surface but you mostly find links. I haven't taken much time to
explore since I was using the tiny keyboard to navigate, but now with
the Pocketop keyboard, I'll be able to move around more efficiently. If
you'd like to meet for lunch or come by and take a look at the file
system and operation feel free. It is a SL5600 and is really cool.
