[ale] method of backup

hey i was going to try and write a script for dividing my hd up and
writeing it to cds, but then i realized i dont know how to do that! like
im sure i could figure out how to script writing cds and all with cdrecord
or such but how do i section off multiples of 650meg ? is there a program
or such i should be aware of? is there a doc on this or has someone
allready done it? well thanks for any and all help! :)
