They haven't.  You can keep them updated yourself for free.

I mean, come on.  You still get the software for free...you can use
apt-rpm or other tools if you want an automated update.

IMO, $60 is a reasonable fee for a service like RHN.  How many $$ in man
hours does it save you?  And it's not something that's being forced down
your throat...it's completely *optional* and not integral to the system at
all.  iirc, RHN was't even available in 6.x and below.

Yeah...shame on them for trying to make a profit.  I have to laugh at
people who whine that Red Hat is actually asking them to give something
back to the company.  You'd think that making a profit as a corporation,
particularly in an open, purely optional, non-intrusive way, was the
biggest sin imaginable. Some people seem to think RH should just give and
give and give.

Anyway, you can extend your demo account every 60 days by simply taking a
survey (about 6 questions...takes around 30 seconds to complete).  I don't
think that's too much to ask.
