[ale] Mobo suggestions

ok. I know that 64 bit is a must have for those requiring large address
spaces (huge databases) or those working with really large amounts of
calculations (CAD, CAD/CAM, and movie stuff come to mind). Good luck and
tell us how it comes out. I have been looking at the Opteron for several
months - it has several security features that 32 bit cpu's don't have as
well as it is backward compatible (unlike the Itanium). However I'm also
tracking the IBM PowerPC chips. A large bus, fast clockspeeds, best OS (Mac
OS based on a BSD),along with the Mac's penchant for "just works" might be
too much. I am guessing either Monarch or Apple will get some $$ from me
soon. I'm glad to see IBM coming on. Hopefully Intel's sun will start to
set - and maybe Sun will wake up too.
