[ale] weird problem with Suse 8.2 and Samba

Are the daemons running? (ps aux|grep mb)  You should see at least one 
smbd and one nmbd process.

You can start up samba by running:

/etc/init.d/nmb start
/etc/init.d/smb start

Are you trying to figure out how to start them at boot?
