> Where did you get the java from?

Sun.
Open help->about plugins and see if the java
> stuff is listed there.
No. It is not. AND, I cannot find the menu item that helps configure plugins
(thought one used to be in Mozilla). Further, I tried installing it using the
web site as root.

I followed the directions at http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/javalinux.html and
got this error:

root:~ # ln -s /usr/local/j2re1.4.1_03/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/opt/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
ln: `/opt/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so': File exists

What I found was that there was a link there already (except it went to ns600
instead of ns610).
Because java still did not render, I deleted the link and executed the command
above again.
No error. But Java still does not render. Here is what is in the plugin
directory:

root:/opt/mozilla/plugins # ll
total 32

flashplayer.xpt -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/flashplayer.xpt
java2 libflashplayer.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so
libjavaplugin_oji.so ->
/usr/local/j2re1.4.1_03/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so
libnptcl3.0.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/libnptcl3.0.so
libnullplugin.so
nppdf.so -> /usr/X11R6/lib/Acrobat5/Browsers/intellinux/nppdf.so
plugger.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/plugger.so

I did not try the second option for installation because I want to install
this for globally.
Any tips?
