CI,

Perl From the Ground Up

I had a project come up that required Perl and I didn't have time to
bootstrap so I did a combination of classes (Perl From the Ground Up) and
self training. Perl From the Ground Up will get you started in Perl and
over the hump of some of the basic conventions. When you get done you will
be writing simple Perl scripts. However, it does not cover more advanced
subjects such as data structures. The most frustrating thing I found when
learning Perl was knowing how to do something in another language but not
knowing the Perl way to do it. Eventually I found and read the Perl online
documentation. Many of my initial questions were answered in the Perl FAQ's.
