[ale] exporting a screen

I've started using screen and have this question:  How do I get a longer 
scrollback history to work under screen?  When I detach from the session 
and re-enter it from somewhere else, I've lost the info that has passed 
off the screen.  I use large buffers on my shells so I can scroll back a 
long way.  I've gotten use to this and was frustrated by that one 
limitation.  I really love screen for its usefulness.  My main use right 
now is controlling backups I've started.  TIA,
