Interesting. It would appear that Earthlink has dropped its price
for a static IP by $4 a month. Otherwise the deal quoted above is
much like the one I am now using: 1 changeable IP address, $50/month,
and the speed, although not guaranteed, is 1.2 down and 128 up --
if the file server on the other end can handle the speed. <grin>
Mindspring was able to work with me even when I had problems and
was using OS/2. Their techies are willing to believe (at least most
of them are) that the problem at hand is OS independent.  I've been
with Mindspring for at least seven years and hit an incompetent
tech support type only once.
